A group of Baldwin High School students have captured the state title in the Business Management section of the Kansas ProStart Student Invitational. The team consists of junior Colin Thomas and sophomores Kara Hoegerl, Ellie Parr and Britton Schroeder.
BHS culinary teacher and team advisor Sandra Lawson is very proud of the team.
“Every year is a challenge as we have new students with different ideas and they all have to work as a team to accomplish a task with a lot of rules and regulations,” Lawson said.
The students will now compete at the National Kansas Restaurant and Hospitality Association ProStart Culinary/Management Competition in the management division. The team has high hopes for the competition.
“I hope to win. We have a good concept and just need to work on it a little more,” Thomas said.
The national tournament will be held April 30 through May 2 at Overland Park Convention Center. The competition is open to the public.
