Fact Finding Committee Report
This report was developed by the board requested fact finding committee this spring for the purpose of providing information regarding prevalent discussion topics of reorganization within the district. This committee did not make decisions regarding the merit of each topic but gathered all pertinent information about the topic so that anyone making a decision regarding these topics would be fully informed. Information, data, and facts were gathered concerning the following topics: Administration Organization, Closing One School, Closing Two Schools, Elementary Attendance Centers, Four Day Week, Student Activities and Transportation.
The committee consisted of Dr. Gus Wegner, Principal of the Marion Springs and Vinland Elementary Schools, Dr. Deb Ehling-Gwin, Principal of the Baldwin Elementary Primary Center, Dan Wallsmith, Principal of the Baldwin Elementary School Intermediate Center, Rita Tutschulte, Librarian at the Marion Springs and Vinland Elementary schools, Michael Curran, Mathematics teacher at Baldwin High School, Lee Hanson, teacher at Baldwin Intermediate Center, Chad Scoby, Mathematics teacher at Baldwin Junior High School, Gary Stevanus, Activities Director for USD 348, Bret Jones, Assistant Principal at Baldwin High School, Laura Morford, Board Clerk/Administrative Assistant USD 348, Cynde Frick, Director of Financial Operations USD 348, Ernie Gwin, Director of Transportation and Paul Dorathy, Superintendent USD 348. This committee met six times for about 2 and ½ hours per meeting and one meeting for 5 and ½ hours, but most individuals were involved in hours of data gathering outside of the regular meetings.
