Suicide Prevention

USD 348 Baldwin City
Suicide Awareness
Education and Prevention
Mission Statement

The Board of Education and Administration of USD 348 acknowledges the necessity to prepare a Suicide Awareness, Education and Prevention Plan. Each building will have their own suicide prevention, intervention, and response plan, based on the Kansas State Department of Education Suicide Prevention, Intervention, Reintegration and Postvention Toolkit. The plans will include steps for recognizing suicide ideation, appropriate methods of interventions and a crisis recovery plan. Each building team will review their plan and revise as necessary, and communicate procedure to all staff.

Each year the district will hold annual training sessions in accordance with the Jason Flatt Act, where all staff will receive at least one hour of suicide prevention training. That includes facts about suicide, warning signs,  plans of prevention and best practices of crisis intervention.

USD 348 will emphasize the social and emotional well-being of all students and staff in the district.
