District Information

Baldwin City is traditionally dedicated to youth and education. Programs for all ages, preschool to adult are available. Located in southern Douglas County, the 139 square mile district combines the elements of rural living, state highways and easy access to metropolitan areas to provide numerous opportunities for quality lifestyles.

Unified School District 348 offers programs for children of all ages. The district operates the STAR (Parents As Teachers) program serving children birth up to five years of age. We offer a three and four year old special education program combined with our Early Learning Kansans (4 year old at-risk) program. Also, the district provides a fee free all-day kindergarten program with a full curriculum. Qualifying students are able to take advantage of a Special Education program from three years of age up to 21. After school tutoring is available in most buildings. Dual credit and release college classes are available through Neosho County Community College, Johnson County Community College and Baker University. Students looking for careers in vocational programs are able to enroll in dual credit programs through Washburn Tech, The Eudora Technical Education Center and NCCC Ottawa campus, along with several in-house career pathway programs at the high school. Students are also able to enroll in on-line dual credit courses through our virtual school.

Four schools are located in the Baldwin City community: the Primary Center, grades EC-2; the Intermediate Center, grades 3-5; the Junior High, grades 6-8; and the High School, grades 9-12.

All schools have received accreditation from the Kansas State Department of Education. The school district has begun a five year process of accreditation through the Kansas State Board of Education. The new process is called the Kansas Educational Systems Accreditation (KESA). This process is used to assure that we are providing our students and community an up-to-date, relevant education system that meets students 21st century needs to be college and career ready.
